The new year has brought with it not just bone-chilling temperatures, but a cool new refresh to the Nerf blaster line. We will be reviewing the Mediator in three pieces since it is being released separately.

The Core blaster amounts to a pistol Rampage. Which isnt necessarily a bad thing.

At A Glance

My Mediator returned in December with a peculiar problem. The stock attachment point’s end cap was not screwed in. I havent heard of such a thing happening to anyone; just a weird occurrence.

All the paint jobs on Nerf products are limited to one side, as is typical with many other offerings. The shell is nearly all white on the other side, with various warnings embedded into it. This is also where you will find the magazine slot clip.

In hand, the shell is quite comfortable. The Modulus has a large handle with a pump grip and is suitable for adults and small hands.

Inside The Shell

You would expect the innards to be exactly as you would. The Mediator is a Rampage that has the priming handle underneath it instead of at its front.

It works great and has all the right bits.

Youll notice theres a sort of ratchet sitting in line with the priming handle. This mechanism was used in the Dreadbolt before. This mechanism simply forces the user forward and back to move the priming handle. It does make more noise than normal springer-type blasters as a result, but thats more of a minor annoyance.

What Is The Shooting Method?

The Mediator performs as youd expect from modern Elite blasters.

My Elite darts averaged 71fps in several hundred shots. You will have different results with different dart types.

In war use by itself, the Mediator excels in run and gun types of play. As a compact pump-action, mag-fed blaster, the Mediator is easy to use, aim, and hit targets with. You dont NEED the stock or barrel kits, but they serve their purposes should you choose to pick them up.

At the time of writing, I have not experienced any jams using the Mediator.

Users with large hands will enjoy being able to easily remove and load magazines by simply wrapping the left hand around the magazine and pressing the button with their thumb while pulling.

Final Opinion

The Modulus Mediator isnt a blaster we havent seen before, at least mechanically. But it does come in a compact size and for only In addition, It performs its job well. This one is for spring-based blaster enthusiasts.
