Sometimes I get to see new mods or mod kits. In this case, its a new item from Containment Crew, a replacement pump grip for the Nerf Rival Takedown. Its the only part of the blaster I didnt like, due to the lack of texture or ridges for priming. It’s not bad in stock, but it can become a problem if you have sweaty hands or stronger springs. There are many other grips, but this one is my favorite.
Drop-In Replacement
The new grip is printed out of ABS, and includes several nice features. Firstly, theres actual texture all down the sides of the grip that you can feel and grasp with your hands. That by itself is a major improvement. The back has a small ridge that your hand presses against. The strap is the most distinctive and important feature. You can cut it down to the length you desire, to fit around your hand, and use it to get a really tight grip. The main feature of the blaster is the strap. It will be simple to holster and there won’t be any parts sticking out.
Installation was easy I unscrewed the stock pump grip and put this on instead. The two screws connecting the pump grip and the priming sled in the blaster can be reused.
You can also add a spring to the pump grip. It is a Kronos-type system
Results
Using the blaster is much easier with the new grip. Even with your hands wet, it is easy to fire the blaster quickly and easily, even with a spring replacement. The Kronos Pro-fit spring makes my Takedown fire at 130fps. It may or not be able to pass for HvZ games depending on how it chronys.
